Many ‘campaigns’, candidates, political operatives and wonks will spew rhetoric regarding their ‘grassroots’ strategy. Many of these same folks do not understand the grassroots let alone how to put it into their ‘strategy’. We have seen over and over again campaigns that greatly underestimate, overestimate, miscalculate and outright ignore the grassroots . . . subsequently leading to failure and loss. The grassroots is an enigma to most politicians. Why? The grassroots can not be polled. The grassroots can not be ‘controlled’ by a central body. The grassroots is immune to punditry and it can not be organized via a top down strategy. Once a campaign attempts to categorize, control, incubate a grassroots movement the grassroots will turn on that campaign. Occasionally it will turn viciously other times it will simply stand by and watch the candidate lose. However; if the grassroots is dealt with respectfully, if the grassroots is handled with understanding within organizational efforts it can turn into one of if not the most loyal and powerful tool a candidate, campaign or cause can have. Exploit the grassroots, try to utilize it for money or control it and you will suffer the consequences. As a result of the possible devastation and severe misunderstanding of the grassroots many campaigns ignore it altogether. Why? Campaigns these days turn to the main stream media (especially the liberals, but conservatives do it as well). They (the campaigns) turn to the MSM for coverage, ads and polls because they can not do the same with the grassroots. Why? They do not understand it. We saw in this very election the same thing happen. The McCain campaign tried to ‘play’ the media. However, once it was clear he was running against Obama the media no longer had any interest in McCain. The McCain campaign made the mistake of trying to survive on media exposure and a tireless campaign schedule. They often ignored the grassroots completely. (I know this for a fact, personally). When they did ‘engage’ the grassroots, they attempted to control it, exploit it, poll it and organize it. All of the no-no’s. The miniscule grassroots effort that was managed was hammered and beaten by the massive MSM machine. It is going to take Conservative Citizens interested in Solutions to find their own way. To come together with egos and financial wants aside . . . unite, mobilize and form a true massive grassroots army. By definition alone, the grassroots is not to be controlled. The grassroots are not part of the brick and mortar, they are not the marble walkways, they are not the gold leaf chairs, and they are neither the 100 story offices nor the folks that occupy any of the aforementioned. The grassroots is the foundation by which all is built upon. In short the grassroots is you and I. Everyone ‘else’. The grassroots is made up of conservative citizens with traditional values. That is what founded our country that is what led it to be the greatest idea, experiment, place and country on Earth. Now I am not saying that someone in office or someone that exists in the upper echelon so to speak can not operate and exist in both that realm and the grassroots effectively . . . they can. However; it is only when they stand alongside Conservative Citizens, regular Americans like you and I that they achieve success in doing so. If they do this respectfully and honorably they can wield great power, and so can we. A Jewish friend of mine told me a long time ago that “Being Irish”, (which I am)”Being Irish is like being Jewish.” To which I of course replied, “Oh yeah how?” He said “You see it is not only an ethnicity or nationality but a psychosis!” Of course he was right. Grassroots can be looked at in the same light. It is more than a herd of folks, it is more than being elected or climbing the political ladder, it is more than having authority in ones community . . . it is a psychosis. A mindset. It is a positive enthusiastic unification of citizens based on real beliefs, core values, and common goals. It is fostered and grows by participation regardless of the level. Campaigns can not ignore the grassroots any longer. They can not afford to and we can not let them. We are the very basis of politics in our country. You and I discussing an issue over our kitchen table is the pure soul of our entire system. It is stepping out your backdoor into your backyard and taking a look around. If the grass is high, start cutting it down. It is you and I going to our town meetings, city councils and listening, honestly listening and speaking up when necessary. It is you and I speaking to our friends or folks at church. It is you and I blogging, writing letters to editors, making calls to radio stations or on behalf of issues or campaigns. Unlike any other conservative political organization, Conservative Solutions is unique in providing opportunities for Education, Inspiration and Action in a coordinated effort to promote conservative principles. It has been quite sometime since the true power of the grassroots in the United States was realized. It has been quite sometime since someone truly inspired them to action. We believe without a doubt that we are still a right leaning country. That being said why then has it been so long for the grassroots to really become engaged and active? Fear. Fear and Manipulation. They lack inspiration and sensible leadership. If folks like you and I were truly inspired by a leader or group we would share that inspiration with our friends, family and neighbors . . . we would act. It seems as though this 2008 election cycle has awakened some folks to the realization that the United States has come perilously close to colossal failure, politically, socially and more recently economically. Many folks are beginning to speak out. Just imagine the possibilities of these masses if they were truly inspired by a group of fellow citizens aggressively working towards the same goals. Imagine the power they would have on every front, pro-life, marriage, the economy, taxes, 2nd amendment, freedom . . . it is staggering to think of. As I stated before Conservative Solutions believes firmly that 80% of Americans in reality align themselves with conservative values especially in a moral and patriotic capacity. We believe this because it is a fact. We all constantly talk of the Main Stream Media, I even mentioned them earlier. They go to great lengths to get us to believe that our nation is not fundamentally conservative. They bombard us with progressive agenda, pundits, lectures, academia, pictures, sound bites, protests, videos . . . it never ends. They prop up this minority of fanatics and elitist know it all’s as if they are the common citizen! They spend great effort and obscene amounts of money telling you and me who we are! It has become abundantly clear in 2008 that we can not educate, inform or force the Main Stream Media to be objective or convey our message. We Must Put Our Time, Effort, Energy, Resources and MONEY Elsewhere! Alternative media, groups, efforts similar to Let’s Get This Right and Conservative Solutions Similar to Barack Obama these people do not pray to our God. Their God is the State. Plain and simple. They are driving hard for a one world government and a very twisted version of the ‘utopian’ society. These are ‘soldiers’ not citizens. They take their direction from the top of their indoctrinal system. They have a well thought out and systematically placed strategy that they are implementing quite well. These folks DO NOT represent you and me. These folks are NOT the grassroots of the United States! These liberal progressive forces have no desire to preserve neither our freedom nor the sovereignty of the United States. They will compromise away all that has made us a beacon to the rest of the world. They have ONE goal. Infiltrate every aspect of our political structure, take foothold in every part of our government, grow it into the largest monstrosity ever to exist on this planet and then increase its power . . . Ultimately increasing their own in the process. That is exactly why we must be more cautious now then ever before. As I stated previously there are many ‘groups’ popping up. Many seemingly principled leaders shouting their message louder than in previous years, many entities wishing to engage you. Now is not the time to be moderate. Now is not the time for bipartisanship. Now is not the time to overhaul the core beliefs and principles of the most honorable political traditions to ever exist on earth. Now is the time to hold true to those values and beliefs as tightly as we can. They are the lifeline for this nation and we are the guardians. We must stay consistent with our values and beliefs. We must embody and follow the ideals of the founders of this nation and the documents they utilized to create it. We are all Americans. We are all citizens. We are all equal. We can not let power, egos and finances deter us from our primary goal. We are in a war and we must operate as such. The liberals will live off bread and water years on end simply to further their agenda one day. We must have that same determination. We must disregard personal gain, power and recognition in order to fulfill our duty and obligation to our country. We are in the process of establishing The Foundation for Conservative Solutions, as our parent organization to be a think tank dedicated to educating the public and government officials on the Constitution and the conservative economic, national security and social values that remain the unwavering foundation of our Republic. Over the long term, the key to the success of reinvigorating the Conservative Movement is individual action on the local, state and national level. If we subscribe ourselves to the basic ideas I have mentioned above, if we hold true to these principles and stand up in our own communities we will unleash a great and awesome power . . . the power of American’s! This begins in your own backyard my friend. The school board, PTA, sheriff, city and town officials, selectmen, sate officials, congress, senate. I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank any and all of you out there that participated in this election cycle.  I thank those that were with us from the start, those that joined us in the end and everyone in-between.

I am saving my comments and thoughts regarding the outcome of the election, the future of our cause etc for a later post.  This is simply a straight forward THANK YOU.

(for the record when I say we throughout this post I’m talking about YOU!)

In the past two years I have been lucky enough to meet folks all across this nation from every conceivable ethnic background and walk of life.  I’ve communicated with you via, phone, internet, TV, Radio and even in person.  Overall I am better off for it.

Often throughout this process doubts were present.  Doubts about our abilities, or focus,
Our agenda, our purpose, our impact and practically everything else.  I can assure you from the bottom of my heart there is no doubt.

For those that questioned our impact and all of the aforementioned let me just give you a bit of info to digest.

Collectively we posted 345,621 blog posts. (related to the mccain campaign etc)  That is the most accurate number I have (and trust me I’ve done my best to keep close track) however I am quite certain the number is higher.  Our first month in operation we increased McCain’s over-all online presence by 524%.  It never fell again.  We had articles, stories etc picked up by the Main Stream Media, TV, Print and Radio etc that otherwise never would’ve appeared there.  Often we completely took over tracking sites such as Technorati, Wonkosphere and several others . . .we retained a strong presence on all throughout.

Before we lost the ability to directly track our contributions (as of January of 2008) we had contributed $116,000.00 dollars directly to the McCain campaign.  Since we only grew and put forth stronger numbers and efforts from that point on I can safely assume that number rose dramatically.  We also raised $4309.64 for various conservative/republican candidates around the country directly through slatecard, Along with another $3625.00 for candidates above and beyond that.

Over 64,400 people from around the country clicked on our link to make phone calls on behalf of the campaign.  Many of us held phone banks periodically in our homes, made calls on our own or went to HQ above and beyond that.

Many of us were interviewed by or asked to write for or speak to the Main Stream Media,
Including FOX news, NBC, CBS, Columbia News Journal, Medill News, Hundreds of collegiate and high school news services, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, Dozens and dozens of radio programs, the BBC (many times) and the list goes on and on.

When the campaign was low on resources WE WERE THERE.  In the NH primary we literally put 500 boots on the ground.  These volunteers did everything a paid campaign normally covers.  We single handedly won the NH primary for McCain which of course resulted in his attaining the nomination of the party.

When McCain began the no surrender tour it was from our ranks he pulled the veterans and volunteers, many of us road on that tour with him when he need us.

We contributed THOUSANDS of dollars directly out of pocket to cover expenses of our efforts, to help others etc. (I will not give the dollar amounts to protect those that wish to remain private etc).

We traveled around the country to battleground areas and areas in desperate need of additional support, typically on our own dime.

When the campaign was lacking in signage we took up the cause.  We raised money for signs around the country.  We shipped over 3000 signs in a two month period to states, areas that needed them.  We shipped them in most cases without charging the receiving party.  Often we even covered the shipping charges.  Not including all of the stickers, hats and pins we sent out.

The campaign on numerous occasions implemented ‘our’ ideas and took ‘our’ advice.
(had they done it a lil’ more often perhaps we would’ve won . . . lol)

We also ran 21 Television commercials in KEY battleground areas around the country thanks to direct donations from YOU!

We created ‘groups’ in every state on facebook, google and other platforms. (over 800 affiliated groups, most set up by us directly!)  From these groups 15 individuals were directly hired by the campaign (several others had offers and turned them down, but continued to volunteer anyhow!).  Of those 15 directly hired 2 were at our request, 8 at our suggestion.  One of these folks became part of McCain’s official personal advance team another one of Sarah Palin’s handlers.

The google groups (which ended with 745 members) were utilized directly by the McCain campaign for several months and we received several written messages thanking us for that use and the amazing results they achieved when using them. Often they found their ‘area’ leaders or boots on the ground folks directly from those groups.  They stated that they always had a positive response and that every time they reached out via that avenue those folks ALWAYS showed up for them.

We had an amazing force of numbers and effort.  Our contact list grew to over 700,000 during the course of this campaign. AMAZING! That is just staggering!  That is from members of our various sites/blogs/groups/subscriptions etc.  Millions upon millions of ‘hits’ and ‘visits’ to our sites,blogs,platforms.  Hundreds of thousands of readers  (sometimes for one blog). . . you truly reached the masses my friends.

Now I could go on and on boring you with details and numbers but I won’t.  I just wanted to make sure you had at least a slight idea of the tremendous impact you had.  We may not have won, but ultimately our accomplishment was astounding.  We impacted the process.  We insisted our voice be heard and succeeded. NEVER forget that.  

The ‘battle’ may be over however the war rages on.  The war for the heart and soul of our country has begun.  Don’t start whispering now, do not hang your heads in shame, or storm away in anger and frustration.  The sun came up on November 5th, I saw it.

I am proud of what I did for the past three years.  I am proud of all you have done.  I am proud of the McCain family and am honored to count them among my friends, just as I do many of you.

So once again I offer you my most heart-felt and deepest thanks.  I wish I had the time and energy to list and thank you all by name . . . I can not.  Before I end however, I would like to give a special thanks to just a handful folks that went far above and beyond their call of duty . . .(there are many more, but bare with me)

The New Hampshire Republican State Committee is filing a lawsuit against the New Hampshire Secretary of State, William Gardner, claiming that Republican election officials are purposefuly being kept away from new registration tables. Both Republicans and Democrats appoint election officials to ensure that neither party tries to tamper with votes or registration.
